Kaneohe is one of the largest residential communities on the west coast of Oahu. It is in the city and county of Honolulu. The name “Kaneohe” means “bamboo man” in the Hawaiian language. This area has a lot of popular attractions including the Byodo-In Temple, Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden, Kaneohe sandbar and three golf courses. About 34,597 people live here as per the census of 2010.  There are several interesting attractions in Kaneohe that are worth checking out. The first major attraction in this city is the Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden. This garden is home to hundreds of different plant species from different parts of world including India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Philippines, Africa, Polynesia, Hawaii, Melanesia and tropical America. It is a great place to stroll past lakes and streams and over foot bridges enjoying the sight of beautiful meadows, endless range of flowers, fruits, trees and bushes.  The Kaneohe bay is one of the most popular attractions on this island. The Kaneohe sandbar is a popular gathering place. Locals with boats use this spot as a hangout place. You can barbeque here, play football games and even snorkel. You can also see some hammerhead sharks in the ocean surrounding this area. Byodo-In temple is another attraction in Kaneohe. This temple was built in the 1960s to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the arrival of one of the first Japanese immigrants in this area. These immigrants came as workers for sugar plantation fields. This temple is a replica of a nine hundred and fifty-year-old temple of the same name located in Japan. It has a large statue of Buddha in it. Kaneohe also has several golf courses, most of which are open to the public so you can go and have some fun while enhancing your golfing skills. The three golf courses in Kaneohe are Pali golf course, Ko’olau golf club, and Bayview golf park. The first one is a public golf course whereas the other two are privately owned but open to the public.
