Some Interesting Facts About Wahiawa Presented By Ohana ChemDry
Wahiawa is a small town in the Honolulu county. Wahiawa is a quite popular destination for tourists. The word “Wahiawa” means “place of noise” or “place of thunder” in the local language. The place got its name probably because of the continuous fighting that took place in the plains of Wahiawa. Most locals pronounce the name as “wah-hee-wah” although a more accurate pronunciation would be “wah-hee-ah-wah” and a lot of locals do use this pronunciation. When you go there, it is better to pronounce the name in the same way the locals pronounce it. The raised plains of Wahiawa were at one time used as military bases. It was in fact use for battle training for a long time. Today also some places in this area are used for training military. One of the most popular tourist spot in Wahiawa is the dole pineapple plantation here. Today most of the residents are the descendants of the plantation workers of the past. The pineapple industry in this area has come to a halt because of the high land prices and booming tourism. Yet, it’s the pineapple maze is what attracts most visitors here. Wahiawa is surrounded by lake Wilson on three sides. Wahiawa can be said to be a “lake district” of the island. This lake is good for fishing any time of the year. The Wahiawa reservoir near the Wilson lake is a great place for lovers of outdoor adventures. Then there is also the Wahiawa rainforest botanical garden. It is a gulf that was added to the city in 1950 and is about 27 acres in area. It has a cool temperature and wide range of flora in the gardens. It is a highly elevated plain sometimes rising to 1000 feet height. Wahiawa also has a historic site called Kukaniloko Birthstones State. It is a highly significant and ancient cultural site in the entire city. This is the place where many of the Hawaii’s most historically important people were born. The chiefs and the nobility and several of the sacred temples. This place has a lot of historical and cultural importance for Hawaiians. “LOOK NO FURTHER! I cannot rant enough about Frank with Chemdry. I was a little hesitant at first because his prices were more expensive then the other companies. In the end, I was extremely satisfied with his work! Frank got so much red dirt out of our carpets they look brand new! He was even here for about 8 hours because our pet filled house was such a challenge. The professionalism, compassion and care we received from Frank was like no other. We will forever use this company! Thank you SO much!!!!!”
